Key Scripture: "Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God." - Leviticus 19:31
Introduction
A ghost in a dream is a symbol of a "familiar spirit," of an influence from the past, and of a spirit of death. The Bible is clear that the dead do not return to haunt the living. Therefore, a "ghost" in a dream is not a human spirit, but a demonic spirit that is "familiar" with a person or a family line.
Biblical Context
Familiar Spirits
The Bible strictly forbids consulting with "mediums and necromancers" who claim to speak with the dead (Leviticus 19:31). These are "familiar spirits"—demons that impersonate the dead.
The Spirit of Death
This is a demonic spirit that operates in graveyards and in places of death.
Haunting Issues from the Past
A "ghost" can also be a metaphor for an unresolved issue from your past that is "haunting" you.
Common Scenarios and Interpretations
Seeing a Ghost
Meaning: This represents the presence of a familiar spirit or a spirit of death.
What to Do: Do not engage with it. Take authority in Jesus' name.
A Ghost of a Known Person
Meaning: This is a familiar spirit that is impersonating a deceased loved one to try to gain emotional access to you.

Being Haunted
Meaning: This represents torment from a demonic spirit or being "haunted" by guilt, shame, or trauma from your past.
What to Do: Seek deliverance and inner healing through prayer.
Action Steps
- Do Not Communicate with the "Ghost": Do not speak to it or receive any message from it. It is a demon.
- Break the Power of the Familiar Spirit: In the name of Jesus, break all ties with any familiar spirit operating in your family line.
- Heal from the "Haunting" Past: If the "ghost" represents past trauma, ask God to bring healing and closure to that wound.
Prayer for Deliverance
In the name of Jesus, I take authority over every familiar spirit and every spirit of death. I will not communicate with you. I command you to leave me and my family now. I break every tie to the occult and to any sin of my ancestors. I am a child of the living God, and I will not be haunted by the spirits of the dead. Amen.
Declaration of Faith
I am not haunted by my past or by any spirit. The blood of Jesus covers me. I walk in freedom and in the light of Christ.
