Don't Let Go of This - Daily Devotional
[HOOK] Some days it feels like everything good is slipping through your fingers. The hope you once held tightly seems harder to grasp. You wonder if you still have the strength to keep holding on. [REFLECTION] Life has a way of loosening our grip on the things that matter most. Disappointments pile up. Relationships strain. Dreams fade. And somewhere along the way, we start letting go—not of bad things, but of good ones. We release our peace because worry feels more realistic. We drop our joy because circumstances demand our attention. We loosen our hold on faith because doubt seems smarter. But Paul gives us a different instruction: hold fast to what is good. This isn't passive acceptance—it's active, intentional grip. It means examining what fills your life, identifying what brings life and godliness, and refusing to let go of it no matter what storms come. What good things has God given you? Perhaps it's a promise He spoke over your life. Maybe it's a community that encourages your faith. It could be a truth from Scripture that anchors your soul. These are worth holding onto with everything you have. The enemy wants you to release them, but God says grip tighter. What you hold onto determines what holds you together. [STEPS] 1. Identify three good things God has given you and write them down today 2. When negative thoughts come, consciously redirect your mind to these good things 3. Share one good thing God has done with someone who needs encouragement [PRAYER] Father, forgive me for the times I've released what You gave me to hold. Strengthen my grip today on Your promises, Your truth, and Your goodness. Help me discern what is truly good and give me the courage to never let go. In Jesus' name, Amen. [CLOSE] What good thing have you been slowly releasing that God is asking you to grip tightly again?
