When the Ground Feels Shaky - Daily Devotional
[HOOK] Have you ever felt like everything stable in your life was suddenly shifting beneath your feet? Maybe it's a diagnosis, a job loss, or a relationship that's crumbling. In those moments, we desperately need something solid to hold onto. [REFLECTION] Standing on God's promises doesn't mean we won't feel the storm raging around us. It means we've anchored ourselves to something that cannot be moved. When Abraham waited decades for the child God promised, he didn't have a backup plan—he had a promise. When the Israelites stood at the edge of the Red Sea with enemies closing in, they didn't have an escape route—they had a promise. Here's what makes God's promises different from every other assurance you've ever received: they come from Someone who cannot lie and whose power has no limits. Every promise in Scripture has been tested by fire and found faithful. Not one has ever failed. Today, whatever uncertainty you're facing, you don't have to manufacture confidence. You don't have to pretend everything is fine. You simply need to plant your feet on what God has already declared over your life. His promises aren't wishful thinking—they're the most solid ground you'll ever stand on. [STEPS] 1. Write down three specific promises from Scripture that apply to your current situation and read them aloud each morning. 2. When anxious thoughts arise today, pause and speak the words: 'God, I choose to trust Your promise over my fear.' 3. Share one of God's promises with someone else who needs encouragement this week. [PRAYER] Father, when my circumstances make me feel unsteady, remind me that Your promises have never failed. Help me to stop looking at the waves and start standing on Your Word. Give me courage to trust what You've said even when I cannot see how it will come to pass. In Jesus' name, Amen. [CLOSE] Which promise of God do you need to stop hoping is true and start believing is already yours?
