When Doubt Whispers, Love Stays - Daily Devotional
Some mornings you wake up and faith feels distant, like trying to remember a dream that's already fading. You want to believe, but questions circle your mind like unwelcome guests who won't leave. If doubt has made you feel far from God, you're not alone—and you're not disqualified from His love. Here's what's remarkable about Psalm 136: the phrase 'His love endures forever' appears twenty-six times. It's almost excessive, almost redundant—until you realize that's exactly the point. God knows we need constant reminding, especially when our faith wavers. Doubt doesn't surprise God. He watched Thomas demand to see nail-scarred hands. He heard David cry out, 'Why have you forsaken me?' He saw Elijah hide in a cave, exhausted and questioning everything. Yet none of them were abandoned. God's steadfast love isn't dependent on your unwavering faith. It's anchored in His unchanging character. The Hebrew word 'hesed'—translated as steadfast love—describes a covenant commitment that refuses to let go. Your doubts don't cancel His promises any more than clouds cancel the sun. Seasons of doubt often become seasons of deeper roots. When you can't feel God's presence, you learn to trust His promises. When answers don't come quickly, you discover He is enough even in the waiting. Your questions aren't the opposite of faith—they're often the doorway to a faith that's truly your own. Today's Faith Steps: 1. Write down one thing you know to be true about God's character, even if you can't feel it today 2. Share your doubts honestly with God in prayer—He can handle your questions 3. Reach out to a trusted friend or mentor and let them remind you of what's true Prayer: Father, I come to You with an honest heart—sometimes full of faith, sometimes full of questions. Thank You that Your love doesn't depend on my certainty. Hold me close in this season of doubt. Help me trust Your character when I can't trace Your hand. I choose to believe You are good, even when I don't understand. Amen. Reflection: What would change in your spiritual life if you believed your doubts couldn't disqualify you from God's love?
