When God Feels Silent But Isn't - Daily Devotional

[HOOK] You're doing everything right, yet everything feels wrong. The bills keep coming, the diagnosis hasn't changed, and your prayers seem to hit the ceiling. In moments like these, trusting God's goodness can feel like the hardest thing you've ever been asked to do. [REFLECTION] Here's what I've learned in my own valleys: God's goodness isn't measured by our current circumstances. It's anchored in His unchanging character. The psalmist David wrote these words while running for his life, hiding in caves, facing betrayal. Yet he could still say, 'Taste and see that the Lord is good.' David wasn't denying his pain—he was declaring something deeper than his pain. He had tasted God's faithfulness before, and that memory became his anchor in the storm. When life is hard, we're not asked to pretend everything is fine. We're invited to remember. Remember the time He provided when you couldn't see how. Remember the peace He gave when anxiety threatened to overwhelm you. Remember His presence in your darkest night. God's goodness doesn't disappear in difficulty—it often becomes most visible there. Like stars that only shine in darkness, His faithfulness reveals itself most clearly when we have nothing else to hold onto but Him. [STEPS] 1. Write down three specific times God showed up for you in the past and read them aloud as a declaration of trust 2. When anxious thoughts come today, pause and whisper: 'God, I choose to believe You are good even when I cannot see it' 3. Share your struggle with one trusted friend and ask them to pray with you this week [PRAYER] Father, I'm struggling to see Your goodness right now. My circumstances are screaming louder than Your promises. Help me remember who You've always been. Strengthen my faith to trust what I cannot see. I choose to take refuge in You today, even with tears in my eyes. Amen. [CLOSE] What past experience of God's faithfulness can anchor your trust in Him during this current storm?
